WORKING METHOD
The residency is organised around sustained exchange. Participants bring practices and projects situated within particular traditions, communities, institutions, technologies, and histories. The group examines those projects with rigour, generosity, attentiveness, and conceptual precision.
Presentation and discussion may draw on curricula, teaching materials, recordings, performances, workshops, interviews, institutional documents, software, diagrams, essays, lectures, or hybrid forms. No medium is privileged as the default evidence. Materials are considered in relation to the questions they raise, the people they affect, and the forms of understanding they make possible.
Participants will define terms, identify assumptions informing decisions, clarify relations between educational aims and pedagogical procedures, and distinguish declared values from the conditions through which they are enacted. Discussion will attend not only to what a project intends, but to how its premises appear in repertoire, sequencing, language, space, assessment, technology, interpersonal relations, and structures of participation.
Critical engagement is understood as constructive and responsible. Feedback should neither merely affirm a project nor measure it against an external pedagogical norm. It should reveal consequences, identify tensions between principles and procedures, locate unexamined assumptions, and open viable paths for development. Participants are expected to approach others’ work with the seriousness, care, and openness they seek for their own.
Because educational projects involve people, institutions, and unequal relations of power, inquiry must attend to the ethics of representation. Participants should consider whose voices may be shared, how learners and communities are described, what consent is required, and how public presentation may affect those whose experiences inform the research. Critical reflection is inseparable from responsibility for how knowledge is produced and circulated.
The inquiry is intentionally plural. Its purpose is not to establish methodological consensus, prescribe one philosophical tradition, or subordinate practice to theory. Productive disagreement, contextual difference, and conceptual tension are necessary conditions of collective research. The programme seeks a discourse in which incompatible positions can be stated clearly, examined fairly, and transformed through encounter.
